Events

FRRL enjoy helping Library Services create a lively and interesting social, educational and cultural hub at the Library for the community to enjoy.

An Annual Programme of events is organised to entertain and inform covering an eclectic mix of topics for gatherings of up to 60 folk.

  • October: Thursday 19,  7.30 – 9.00 p.m. History talk by Ann Kennedy-Smith, Cambridge Brides Poster

 

  • FRRL FILM CLUB POSTER Season 2 – non-FRRL members welcome!
  • November: Wednesday 1, 6.30 p.m. – Ida
  • November: Sunday 12, Closing date Children’s Competition‘Home as Inspiration’ Writing Competition Poster
  • November: Wednesday 29, 6.30 p.m. –  Film Club, The Umbrellas of Cherbourg
  • November: Thursday 30, 7.00 p.m. – Veronica Thornton, local FRRL textile artist and author will give an illustrated talk with images of the paintings and railway  which inspired her new novel ‘The Screaming Alice’ (Crystal Palace) with questions chaired by FRRL Writer-in-Residence.

 

  • December: Monday 4, 7.30 p.m. Library Theatre Company, Alice in Wonderland
  • December: Friday 8, FRRL Christmas Party – details t.b.c.

  • January: t.b.c. Children’s Writing Competition presentation ceremony
  • May 12: Annual Grand Plant Sale & Kid’s fun
  • July 28: Summer Celebration – produce swap & share with plant sale and Kid’s Fun in the garden

Regular Events:

‘Know Your Place’ Quiz Trails  –  fun and informative local walks to be enjoyed at anytime by children and adults of all ages!

 Rhyme and Story-timesMonthly, Saturday mornings, 10.30 & 11.00 a.m.:

18 November – Pirates, Pirate, Pirates! 

16 December – Tales From Long Ago 

Rock Road Scrabble Club, Weekly: Monday mornings, 10 a.m. – 12 noon-ish: a well-established informal group (continues to meet during school holidays but not on Bank Holidays). Cost £1 per session, which supports the library. New players very welcome, come for the start – boards provided.

Community Gardening: fortnightly on Fridays 10.00-11.00 a.m. – E-mail FRRL for dates and details.
