FRRL enjoy helping Library Services create a lively and interesting social, educational and cultural hub at the Library for the community to enjoy.

An Annual Programme of events is organised to entertain and inform covering an eclectic mix of topics for gatherings of up to 60 folk.

  • July,  Saturdays and Sundays 14th & 15th; 21st & 22nd; 28th & 29th – Local Artist Cambridge Open Studios Weekends 2, 3 and 4, 11.00 a.m. – 6.00 p.m.

Rock Road Library is hosting three local artists who will be offering opportunities to create some art as well as displaying their own work:

Emma Bennet: Hand-cut collage

Jayne Ruffell-Ward: Bird sculptures

Rebecca Stark: Metal clocks and mixed media

 The library is just one of several Open Studio venues in the neighborhood – do take the opportunity to explore the area and visit them all: Local Open Studios 2018

  • July, Saturdays 14th, 21st and 28th – FRRL-sponsored additional public library opening hours – 2.00 p.m. – 5.00 p.m.
  • July, Friday 27th – Writer-in-Residence drop-in session
  • July, Saturday 28th: Summer Celebration – produce swap & share with plant sale and Kid’s Fun in the garden 10.00 a.m. – 12.30 p.m.
  • October 6th: Annual Family Apple Day

Rock Road Scrabble Club, Weekly: Monday mornings, 10 a.m. – 12 noon-ish: a well-established informal group (continues to meet during school holidays but not on Bank Holidays). Cost £1 per session, which supports the library. New players very welcome, come for the start – boards provided.


Film Group

Community Gardening: fortnightly on Fridays 10.00-11.00 a.m. – E-mail FRRL for dates and details.

‘Know Your Place’ Community Trails  –  fun and informative local walks to be enjoyed at anytime by children and adults of all ages!

 ‘The Great War and the people who lived around Rock Road Library’ – Final Exhibition of the 2014 – 2016 project
